More Background

After majoring in Art from Cassadaga Valley H.S. I left the Snowbelt for the Tropical Weather of Pittsburgh PA. and graduated with Honors in Graphic Design from the Art Institute. Staying in school I then earned a BS in Art Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I completed my college “career” at Penn State University with a Masters of Education. I spent the next 10 years teaching at various levels in 3 states both in public and private schools. In 2001 I was honored to be nominated for ” TEACHER OF THE YEAR” in CMS.

While teaching I began to experiment with decorative painting as a business. It wasn’t long before I decided to receive training in Atlanta using Faux Effects products. This young company (1992) was highly regarded for its innovative and quality products in Decorative Painting.  I have also trained with Michele Nadi, “Best Artisan of France, ‘94″ and hold a certificate as one of the first in United States to receive training from him in Tromp Loil. My work garnered 3 awards in the 2 years I participated in Homearama and as my homepage states I have also participated in 4 ASID Symphony houses and 2 Mint Museum tour houses. This past year I was asked to participate in Charlotte Magazines Dream Home benefiting the Suzan G. Komen Fund, and will be featured on the PBS Series, “For Your Home” as a guest Artisan.

Since moving to Charlotte in 1996, my associates and I have done work all over the Southeast region. We boast a combined experience of over 50 years in the decorative arts and never charge a consultation fee.

I am a four-time ASID symphony house finisher, two-time Mint Museum tour finisher and finisher for many well known persons in the Charlotte community. During the two years I participated in HomeArama all three homes in which I worked received awards for my builders.

In 2008 I was asked to participate in Charlotte Magazines Dream Home benefiting the Suzan G. Komen Fund, and will be featured on the PBS Series, “For Your Home” as a guest Artisan. In 2009 I was the finisher for the areas first LEED Registered High Performance Home by Schreiner Custom homes. This house was Awarded 2008 Best Single Family Home by the NC Home Builders Association.

I enjoy the satisfaction of making peoples homes special and continue to maintain lasting relationships with both clients and designers.

Although my work has taken me to many places, I agree with Dorthy when she said “there’s no place like home” and for me it’s Charlotte, NC.
