Jaeger Gustafson

Candidate for Vice President of Governance & Policy

Who I Am

Rooted in Alberta,
Built to Serve

Dr. Jaeger Gustafson is a healthcare executive, post-secondary education leader, and policy strategist focused on the structural governance of Alberta's institutions. His work bridges strategic communications, regulatory integrity, and grassroots mobilization — in service of institutional stability, regional stewardship, and principled, evidence-based policy.

He is also a fifth-generation Albertan who grew up in both Calgary and Innisfail, giving him a first-hand understanding of both sides of Alberta's rural–urban divide. Raised on Lutheran Christian values and rooted in servant leadership, Jaeger listens first, finds common ground, and moves people toward action.

Energy

Young and ambitious, with the drive to make and keep Alberta strong and free for the next generation.

Humility

Experienced in servant leadership through the UCP, public service, the non-profit sector, and his own family.

Capable

A successful entrepreneur and registered health professional who has overseen daily operations for groups of more than 1,000 people.

Engaged

A standing UCP Communications Committee member who identifies the hard issues — differing opinions, large stakes, high emotions — and navigates them with courage.

My Platform

Unify · Protect · Build

As Vice President of Governance & Policy, I will conserve our conservative principles, protect the board's fiduciary duty and the sovereignty of members, and build the clearest, most effective members' policy in the United Conservative Party.

01

Unify

  • Conserve our conservative principles.
  • Continue the legacy and wisdom of those who came before us in policy and governance.
  • Build a vision that maintains the unity of Alberta's conservative movement.
02

Protect

  • Protect the autonomy and fiduciary responsibility of the UCP board of directors.
  • Protect the sovereignty of members.
  • Ensure UCP strategy is cooperative, and that tactics stay secure and private.
03

Build

  • Build the clearest members' policy by strengthening feedback mechanisms and the UCP HUB.
  • Enhance the policy manual to fill gaps in the UCP vision and defend liberty.
  • Improve the manual for every learning level using adult-learning principles.

What I Believe

Albertans First

Alberta's roots run deep — freedom first, families always.

A warm and welcoming voice that listens first and amplifies Albertans to their government — built on strong Albertan values that protect and preserve the Alberta advantage.

01

Natural Rights & Responsibilities

02

Individual Liberty & Property Rights

03

Strong Families

04

Natural Resource Development

05

Economic Fairness & Respect

A Constitutional Hierarchy

Bridging the Rural–Urban Divide

The way to unify Alberta is to return to a clear order of priorities that has always made our province strong: freedom and responsibility first, family and community second, and government's role in real necessities third. It honours rural values without alienating our urban neighbours.

1

Supremacy of God & Natural Rights

Life, liberty, conscience, and the freedom to live according to our beliefs. This is the highest principle and is non-negotiable — including the right to raise our families by our own values.

2

Culture of Christ & Good Deeds

Family, personal responsibility, community, and charity — the moral foundation that holds society together. Strong families and communities are the real safety net.

3

Necessities of Life

Affordable energy, healthcare access, safety, education, and economic opportunity — genuine needs, supported responsibly by government without creating dependency or inverting the hierarchy.
