Jaeger
Gustafson

Your voice. Our values. A platform that wins in 2027.

Why this seat, why now

The work starts now —
so we're ready for 2027.

Our team is already getting ready for 2027. Policy & Governance is the seat that makes sure the platform behind that effort comes from you — the members — and that we build it together, in good time, the right way.

The room
Nov 27–29

The AGM, in Calgary

Members vote on policy and the provincial board.

The goal
Oct 18, 2027

Election Day

The platform we've built together — ready, ratified, and built to win.

This is our chance to build the 2027 platform together — member-driven, open, and ready well before the campaign begins.

How I work

Turn what members believe
into a platform that wins.

Vision
Start from principle

Free and responsible Albertans, strong families, and a government that serves instead of rules. Our principles are the compass.

Strategy
Align an open process

A transparent, cooperative pipeline that pulls local initiative and shared direction together — not one against the other.

Tactics
Execute, starting now

Discipline and follow-through, so the platform is ready in good time — not at the last minute.

I'm Dr. Jaeger Gustafson — a Calgary clinician (Doctor of Acupuncture and Registered Massage Therapist) and co-founder of the Yue-Gustafson School of Health Professions and Calgary's Specialist Clinic. My career has been about building: new practices, a non-profit healthcare school, and care rooted in patient choice, evidence, and strong families.

I serve on the UCP's Communications Standing Committee, where I wrote our Strategic Members Communication Framework. I bring that same builder's mindset to Policy & Governance — because turning what members believe into a winning 2027 platform is work we need to start now, together. I'll listen first, keep the process open, and let members lead.

Dr. Jaeger Gustafson
The platform

Three commitments.

I've already read every governing document this party has — the Bylaws, the Governance Manual, the Membership Rules, and the full Policy Declaration — and measured them against one question: are we ready to govern in 2027? Here's what I'll do about it.

Pillar 01

An Open Platform Pipeline

  • Share our policy priorities openly and invite every member and constituency to help shape them — inclusive from the start.
  • Build a clear path from a member's idea, to a constituency motion, to a vote — so good ideas don't get buried.
  • Start now, so member-built planks are ready in good time for the campaign.
Pillar 02

A Compass for Government

  • Every domain gets a vision — a clear UCP reference point for our MLAs and Ministers, starting with the gaps.
  • Give immigration the platform it deserves — built through open member consultation, in time for the election.
  • Finish the job on justice — where crime, addiction, and mental health meet, and the plan behind a provincial police force.
Pillar 03

Accountable Governance

  • Keep our documents clean and consistent — I've read them closely and flagged details worth tidying before they cause friction.
  • Build institutional memory — a clear record of how our rules are applied, so we're not starting from scratch each time.
  • Show our work to Albertans with a record of what we've delivered together.
The plan

From here to a winning platform.

The groundwork starts now — alongside the work already underway to get our team election-ready. Here's how we build a member-driven platform, step by step, and have it finished early.

Starting now · Summer 2026

Begin the work

  • Invite members and constituencies to help shape our policy priorities.
  • Shore up the consultation pipeline so motions are member-built.
  • Ready the housekeeping cleanup to pass quickly at the AGM.
The AGM · Nov 27–29, 2026

Bring it to members

  • Bring immigration, justice, and the missing visions to the floor.
  • Pass the cleanup and start tidying up our governing documents.
  • Introduce the governance improvements with a clear roadmap.
Ready early · 2027

Finished & ready

  • Set up a simple system to keep the platform current.
  • Produce a clear record of what we've delivered for Albertans.
  • Hand our candidates a complete platform — well before the writ.
At a glance

What you're voting for.

Open Platform Pipeline — an open, member-driven process to build the 2027 platform.

A compass for government — a clear UCP vision for every policy domain.

An immigration plank — built by members, on an issue Albertans care about.

Justice, finished — on crime, addiction, mental health, and policing.

A constitution that holds up — our governing documents, kept clean and current.

Promises kept — a record of what we've delivered, in time for 2027.
